Rollin' Recmobile

6/22/2020

Fun is rollin' into Cleveland Park on Wednesday mornings this summer! The Rollin’ Recmobile will take to the streets to bring recreational activities to your neighborhood. While some traditional summer programs have been canceled due to COVID-19, the Rollin’ Recmobile will fill the gap by providing neighborhood activities and fun from June 22 through August 14. The van, loaded to the top with recreation equipment and games, brings staff to lead activities at fourteen different parks, six days of each week. The van also has a WIFI hot spot that you can use during park visits.

The Rollin’ Recmobile provides flexibility to offer youth recreation activities while following health guidelines for COVID-19. Programming will follow recommendations from the CDC and Linn County Public Health. Changes in activities will be based on social distancing guidelines.
- Phase I: Come by, pick up some food, use the WIFI, and grab an activity kit to do with your family at home or in the park.
- Phase II: As social distancing requirements ease, we will offer small activities in small groups.
- Phase III: Finally, when safe to do so, we will provide large group recreation activities including sports, playground games, fitness, and visits from organizations in the community.

Rollin’ Recmobile is supported by:
City of Cedar Rapids Iowa Government
Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation
Cedar Rapids Kiwanis Club
Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does the Rollin’ Recmobile do?

Rollin’ Recmobile is a new summer program that brings the fun to you. Our bright van is scheduled to stop at 14 different Cedar Rapids parks each week. Join us for activities to meet new friends and beat summer boredom.

How much does it cost?
Rollin’ Recmobile is free!

Can I only attend the stop in my neighborhood?
You are welcome to attend at any park and time that fits your schedule. You can come as many times a week as you would like, but during Phase I, the activity packet handed out will be the same at all stops.

How were the locations determined?
We have tried to balance the locations between multiple areas of Cedar Rapids and stop at as many of our larger parks as we can. Some locations were chosen due to the number of children who have limited access to transportation to other neighborhoods.

What happens if the weather is bad?
If there are storms in the area or tornado watches, we will postpone or cancel the stop until the storm has passed. Get notifications of those changes on CRNewsNow. If a storm comes up quickly, we will send children home. Please make sure your child knows what to do in the event that this happens.

Will the schedule ever change?
We plan to follow a consistent schedule that is easy to remember. However, we may occasionally have to make adjustments. Sign up for CRNewsNow to receive changes

Is the van available to be rented for parties?
The van is only used for public programs through the Parks and Recreation Department.

Where can I find the schedule?
A link to the schedule will be sent out weekly through CRNewsNow. We will also send updates on programs and guests who may be at a park visit with us.

SCHEDULE AS OF 6/22/2020
