George Heeren talked about placement of benches that will be going in Cleveland Park and Haskell Park. There will be a meeting with Daniel Gibbins from Parks and Rec to find the best placemen for the benches. This will take place at the pavilion this Thursday, May 11 th at noon at Cleveland Park.
Neighbors voiced concern about the litter in the park and a request will be made to get more trash cans around the park to deter litter being left by the picnic tables and playing fields. Our concern are plastic bottles being left on the field and getting mowed over and leaving the shrapnel embedded in the grass and this causing injuries to people who utilize the grassy areas. George Heeren also voiced concern about picnickers leaving their coals from the BBQ grills in the park as well.
We now have a website! Our web address is www.cana108.com This was donated by Nicole Novak and her husband, Jake. Thank you! The page is still under construction so keep checking back for more content.
Darren Johnson, the Pastor from the Central Church of Christ was in attendance and talked about his church’s interest in getting involved with the neighborhood and also expressed interest in getting a historical placard put on their property which is the site of the old Cleveland School.
Gary Keller gave a treasurer’s report and our current balance is $459.75 with an additional $5.00 in savings. We are hoping with our annual pancake breakfast we will be able to have a successful fundraiser at this event. We want to get a healthy savings so that neighbors do not have to keep putting their own personal funds up to pay for things for events.
The pancake breakfast is going to be on SATURDAY, JUNE 24 th from 8:00 to 11:00 in the fellowship hall of the Central Church of Christ which is located at 1500 1 st Ave NW.
There will be a Butterfly Garden Reception that will be taking place some time in July. More information to follow when it is available.
We will also be doing our annual National Night Out on August 1 st in Cleveland Park. More information to follow on this as well when it is available.
THERE WILL BE NO FORMAL MEETINGS IN THE MONTHS OF JUNE, JULY, AND AUGUST. RATHER THIS IS WHEN WE WILL BE HOLDING OUR ANNUAL SUMMER EVENTS.
