Savings account for Playground Improvement Project balance has been transferred to City of Cedar Rapids. There is a reimbursement check to be written to Nicole Schroeder in the amount of $24.22 for the animal crackers and baggies expense (originally for Easter Egg Hunt, but now for Safety Fair) as well as a check to the City of Cedar Rapids for the permit for the Safety Fair. Nicole will report on this financial update at the next meeting.
- Playground Project: Parks & Rec Dept is closed, due to COVID. As of today, the Playground should break ground sometime in early July. No other updates at this time.
- Neighborhood Clean Up: This event will be postponed, due to COVID-19 City of Cedar Rapids community event regulations.
- Safety Fair Naming Contest: Applications for name and logo design are due by April 1st. Meeting TBD for next Safety Fair planning meeting. Nicole Schroeder will coordinate with Susan Johnston on scheduling this. Safety Fair is still planned for Saturday, June 20th at Cleveland Park.
- Easter Egg Hunt: This event will be cancelled, due to COVID-19 City of Cedar Rapids community event regulations. Denise Klemp will be contacting CR Public Library about their donation of books. We will see if they are interested in donating these to our Safety Fair instead for prizes or potentially a scheduled reading day in the park this summer.
- Passport to the Parks: Denise Klemp reported that the Cedar Rapids Public Library will be hosting their Passport to the Parks program at Cleveland Park on Monday, June 15th. She will gather more information to share. With this being a weekday event, it is limited to the parents that are stay-at-home parents or childcare providers. In the past, CANA has hosted another reading day on a Saturday to allow more families to attend. We may look into this for 2020 summer event planning.
- COVID-19: If any neighbors need assistance during the outbreak shutdowns, please contact CANA via to arrange volunteer assistance or community aid. April CANA meeting will be scheduled, depending on the government's mandatory meeting regulations.
- Paving for Progress: CR City Council approved bids for Phase 1B of CANA area Paving for Progress project. Work includes water main and service replacement, plus asphalt resurfacing on Chandler Street from 18th Street to 10th Avenue. The project also includes full reconstruction of the 10th Avenue intersection (timed to occur when school is out) and upgrades to an existing City storm sewer that crosses the school's softball complex and grounds. The City is also upgrading the pedestrian access to the softball complex for ADA compatibility. Also, the recent flags and utility work on Chandler Street SW, South of the 10th Avenue intersection, and on 20th Street SW was related to fiber optic installation by Unite Private Networks (UPN). Questions can be directed to Lee Tippe with the City of Cedar Rapids.
- Kwik Star on 16th Ave SW/20th St SW: Nicole Schroeder will be getting more information from City Councilwoman Ashley Vanory about this move. The City previously approved this build to replace the SSX Trucking location, but neighbors on Chandler St SW are concerned about the traffic at that intersection. Nicole will be looking into this further and reporting back at the next CANA meeting.
- Elections: CANA Elections were originally supposed to be completed in January 2020, per the by-laws. George and Nicole did not realize this was the voting year as we just made board changes in 2019. We briefly reviewed the by-laws. Denise, Nicole, and Amy would like to each personally review and make proposals to by-law changes to be reviewed for the next membership meeting.
- Nominations include George Heeren for 2020-2022 President, Nicole Schroeder for 2020-2022 Secretary/VP, Amy Hall-Haney for 2020-2022 Treasurer, and Denise Klemp, Gaylon Heetland, and Rose Heetland for board positions. All nominations were accepted. All board members have accepted their nominations and will be acting board members for the 2020-2022 term.

- Nicole Schroeder motioned to elect Amy Hall-Haney as Treasurer of CANA. Denise seconded this motion. All in favor, none opposed. Motion passes.
- George explained that other area neighborhood associations have bulletin boards at their neighborhood parks. Another association paid $1,200 for theirs, but we discussed and agreed this was too much for our budget. George made a motion to look into this further and install a bulletin board with City approval, pending design and budget to be reviewed and discussed at a future meeting. All in favor, none opposed. George will do some research and get a few quotes for different design options and present at the next membership meeting.
