Dr. King Community Celebration
On Monday, January 16th, 2023, 6:30 pm, St. Paul’s will host the annual Dr. King Community Celebration event.
This inspiring event will focus on Dr. King’s legacy, celebrate those who are carrying on King’s vision in our community, and call each of us to use our voice in the pursuit of justice. The theme “Voices of Today: Provoking Action, Building Community” will couple various voices of community civil rights elders and those of younger activists as a “call and response” format. Along with these voices, there will be various musical offerings, and the youth and adult recipients of the Dr. Percy & Lileah Harris ‘Who Is My Neighbor’ Award will be honored.
Hosted by St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in collaboration with First Light Christian Fellowship, Mount Mercy University, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and the NAACP.
With special thanks to: African American Museum of Iowa, Cedar Rapids Public Library, and the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission.
