Treasurer’s Report by Gary Keller $710.52. No outstanding bills at this time.
It was brought up to move our monthly meetings to the Central Church of Christ
on a full time basis. Reason being, with having the meetings at the school, we
lose at least three months with the summer vacation as well as the school being
closed for Spring Break. We also would have access to the kitchen for free as well
as access to the parking lot for events. This would also be an easy location for
people to find for events and the area is spacious. There was a vote and it was
unanimous that we move our meeting to the church and the new meeting day
will now be the THIRD Monday of each month at 7:00 pm.
We will be getting a PO Box at the west side post office, George Heeren will be
taking care of this. George will also be looking into getting a storage unit for all of
our items and equipment.
George will be going to area businesses that are on the list for historical signs and
seeing what type of display they want whether it is on their building or on a post.
There was brainstorming of how to reach out more successfully to those in the
neighborhood. Denise Klemp brought up the suggestion of having an ad put in
the Penny Saver and also having neighborhood information printed on cards that
people can save. She also talked about appealing to children with a literacy event
in the park and reading to children and also doing a craft with the children as well.
Denise brought up dog owners not cleaning up after their dogs in the park and
other issues with safety such as loose dogs. Nic Roberts will be having someone
come next month from Animal Control to talk at our April meeting.
We will be holding our annual Pancake Breakfast on June 30 th at the Central
Church of Christ. We will be forming a committee for this. More information to
follow. We will be having pancakes and an omelet station as well.
We will also be holding our annual National Night Out which will be held on
Tuesday, August 7 th . More information to follow.
We will be looking at having a car show as well in the Central Church of Christ’s
parking lot along with having a movie in the parking lot that evening such as
American Graffiti. More information to follow.
We will also be looking at sponsoring another tree at the Festival of Trees this
year as well.
George Heeren will also be looking at getting two concrete pads put in for two
new park benches that we have. The bid we received was $2,000 which would be
reimbursable by the city.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL BE MEETING AT THE CENTRAL CHURCH OF CHRIST
FOR OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS. WE WILL NOW BE MEETING ON THE THIRD
MONDAY OF THE MONTH RATHER THAN THE SECOND. We will be updating the
city website with the information. Please share with your neighbors.
Hope to see you at the next meeting!
