The Cedar Rapids Public Library, the City of Cedar Rapids Iowa Government, and AARP Iowa are teaming up to host a gingerbread house contest this holiday season. This isn’t your regular gingerbread house contest, however! They are asking entrants to create an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), along with the full size gingerbread house, to qualify for the contest. Free gingerbread kits will be available for pick up at the Ladd and Downtown libraries and NW Rec beginning Dec. 1, while supplies last. The City of Cedar Rapids is committed to sustainable development that supports walkable neighborhoods - which is part of the Community Climate Action Plan.
