Community Parks Plan Update

Following in-person public engagement events and online surveying last fall, a draft of the Community Garden in Parks Plan has been completed. The Plan document includes an overview of the planning process; concept plans for potential future garden sites; and discussion on management of the garden program including plot fees, maintenance and operations, programming and community partnerships, and funding opportunities.

The draft Plan is available for review on the City’s Community Gardens Plan webpage, where a short survey is available for community members to provide their feedback.

Community members are also invited to learn more about and share their feedback on the draft Plan by joining City of Cedar Rapids staff at the Community Gardens in Parks Plan Open House on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at NewBo City Market from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Feedback received will be incorporated into the final draft of the Community Gardens in Parks Plan, which will be presented to the City Council for adoption this spring.
