Our safety fair started in 2019 as a resource for children in the Cleveland Park area. We have grown the event to include resources for families in general (parents, grandparents, etc.) in the entire Cedar Rapids area. In 2023, we hosted our 4th annual fair with 19 local agencies, 50 volunteers, and approximately 150 individuals in attendance ranging in age from a few months old to mid-80s.
Admission is FREE for attendees. No pre-registration or tickets required. Registration will be at the welcome tents at the event.
Children and families will have the opportunity to check out safety stations with information on pedestrian and bicycle safety, poison and drug safety, heart health, fire safety, and a variety of local agencies providing community resources, including Cedar Rapids Police Department, Cedar Rapids Fire Department, Neighborhood Finance Corporation, Central Furniture Rescue, and more. There will be yard games, crafts, and other fun activities for families to participate in.
Those who attend will have the opportunity to enter to win a car seat, bicycles, gift cards, and other special prizes. Special guests at the fair will include some of our local mascot friends - and a few other surprise guests! We are thrilled to have the support of Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services again in 2024 as we give away FREE BIKE HELMETS to the first 100 children in attendance.
The Cleveland Area Neighborhood Association welcomes families to enjoy the splash pad and playground at Cleveland Park and join us for lunch. Lunch will be served from 11am to 1pm. This picnic lunch includes a hot dog, chips, cookies, and bottled water for FREE! Thank you to our friends at HyVee for making this free lunch possible.
Donations are also welcome and will go back to the association to continue to produce free community events in the neighborhood.
